Chapter 10: Bronx

Having Shakura and my son inside the house with me is everything. I want nothing more than for them to remain there. At the same time, I know I can't keep forcing her to stay with me if she doesn't want to. Honestly, I'm real fucked up behind the way I handled things. My anger got the best of me, which has always been a part of my life growing up. It's been countless times when I lost my control, and it got me in a world of trouble. Of course, my father and brothers were all there to get me out of it. However, nobody can fix what I fucked up with Shakura.

After the shooting with Banks, we all had been chilling. I hadn't been out of the crib. I had spent the days helping out with my son. The tension in the house felt fucked up. Shakura and I only spoke to each other if it concerned the baby.

The smell of breakfast cooking made me sit up in bed. If it was some shit being cooked in here, it has to be my momma throwing down.

After handling my hygiene, I headed to the kitchen. Surprisingly, it was Shakura. I leaned up against the fridge and observed her. She was moving around the kitchen as if I weren't in the room.

"Good morning. I'm surprised you're cooking?"

"Your mom couldn't make it to cook today, so I have no choice. I cooked more than enough in the event you want some." She continued to move around, and I just wanted her to be still.

"Cut the stove off for a minute. We need to talk." I grabbed her arm.

"Talk about what, Bronx? I don't want to fight with you."

"I'm not on no bullshit. It's imperative we speak about us."

"I didn't think there was an us anymore." Shakura took a seat and stared at me intensely.

"Look, I know you hate me right now. I hurt you really bad, and there is no excuse for my behavior. I took shit too far, and I know there is no coming back for that. I want you to know that I'm sorry for hurting you and our son. I'm no longer going to force you to be here because I know you want to leave. All I ask is that you allow me to be a father to Bronx Jr. Don't skip town and take him from me completely. I'll pay whatever a month. Just give me a number."

Shakura was still staring at me, but tears were forming. I was trying to figure out what I had said wrong. My words were spoken carefully and respectfully.

"It's bad enough you did me so wrong. To make matters worse, you just offer me a simple way out."

"What the fuck else I'm I supposed to say? You don't want to be here!"

"You don't know what the fuck I want because you didn't fucking ask. Now that you're done being on bullshit with me, I can go ahead and go.
